In the next inno-talk we will receive Proffesor Miles Pennington, from Royal College of Art, and have a open talk after his lecture titled “Innovation – Where’s the edge?”
Innovation Design Engineering (IDE) is a double Masters degree programme run jointly between the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London. The students of IDE have a mission to use design, technology and sustainability thinking to change the lives of others around the world in beneficial ways. They question the world around them and the way things have been done before. This is de-rigueur in IDE, and part of the programme philosophy is to help them grow their own way of doing. We don’t want to force feed our students a process, we want to give them focus and space, we look for people who want that too, they are Designers who don’t want to be Designed. Head of Programme, Professor Miles Pennington will present the work of the programme to illustrate the ambition, concerns and activity of the new generation of designers.
Date and Time: September 4th, 2012 (Tues.) 18:00-19:30 (The venue will be open from 17:30.)

Professor Miles Pennington is currently Head of Department in Innovation Design Engineering (IDE) at the Royal College of Art. IDE is a double masters course run jointly between the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London. The course has been successfully educating engineers and a diverse set of people into the world of innovation and design for the last 30 years. Miles graduated from the course in 1992 and then worked in Japan for several years for Sekisui Chemical. He returned to the UK to start his own design agency Design Stream before joining the RCA in 2008. Miles is interested in looking for interesting partners for IDE to work collaboratively with.
