Innovation Seminar “BUSINESS MODEL DESIGN & INNOVATION” by Yves Pigneur 2014.3.25.


We have a great honor to co-organize Innovation Seminar, receiving Professor Yves Pigneur, co-author of the book “Business Model Generation” world-widely read and translated in 29 languages.

In the seminar Prof. Yves Pigneur will present the Business Model Canvas for designing, assessing and challenging business models. Business model innovation and industry changes will be illustrated with examples such as Nespresso, SunEdisson, and AirBnB. Design thinking attitude will also be emphasized for exploring and prototyping business models. Finally, the synergy between the business model canvas, lean startup and customer development will be briefly presented for testing business models.

The seminar is jointly hosted by, Japan Innovation Network and Future Center Studies Group. It will be opened to everyone, not only to the students and faculties of The University of Tokyo.

Date and Time: March 25th, 2014(Tues.) 15:00 – 17:00 (The venue will open at 14:30).

Venue: Nakashima Hall, Food Science Bldg., Yayoi Campus, The University of Tokyo

    Dr. Pigneur is professor at the University of Lausanne and has held visiting professorships at Georgia State University, University of British Columbia, National University of Singapore, and HEC Montreal. Together with Alexander Osterwalder, they authored the international bestseller “Business Model Generation” (million+ copies in 35 languages) and the more recent “Value Proposition Design”. In November 2015, they have been ranked #15 on the Thinkers50 list of top business thinkers worldwide and they won the “Strategy Award” of the Thinkers50 event in London.
